We are the Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation (ALPA). We started in tin sheds in the early 1970s and have grown to become the leading operator of stores and provider of training and accounting services to Aboriginal communities throughout Australia's north with operations in 27 communities and over 1,300 staff. We are proud of where we have come from and where we are going, and hold our financial independence and benevolent contributions back to our communities as paramount to our success.

We are looking to expand our team and have upcoming positions for experienced retail Duty Managers and Store Mangers (couples and singles) who are seeking a new adventure and are natural-born leaders with the desire to contribute and be a part of a thriving community.

Your new role will see you:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of your store
  • Oversee stock management, store financials and general housekeeping
  • Promote and uphold our values: this means great nutrition, safety, training and fair employment to all.
  • Train and develop your team
  • Build relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Immerse yourself in the local community and contribute to Australia's largest privately funded Indigenous organisation.

To be successful in the position you will have the following:

  • Previous experience as an FMCG and/or supermarket Manager/Team Leader
  • Strong team management/communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive can-do attitude
  • Understanding of remote communities - previous experience in community highly desirable
